Hello all! My name is Taryn, and I’m a junior majoring in journalism at Texas State University. Since I can remember, listening to music has been my solace. Whether I’m stressed, angry, sad, happy, nervous, whatever – music is always what I turn to. I grew up on 80s hair bands and whatever country music was popular at the time (my mom has a diverse ear), but my taste didn’t really start expanding until I was in middle school and my older sister got a mixed CD from a friend containing a mix of dubstep and Asking Alexandria and similar bands. That was a phase I’d rather not talk about.
One of the main reasons I wanted to move to the Austin area was for the live music scene. I love discovering new bands, plus tons of my favorite artists come here on tour. Since meeting my boyfriend I’ve gained a new appreciation for so many new artists, and even learned how to play a little bit of bass guitar myself. My favorite bands at the moment (they change quite often) are Zoé and Tame Impala. I am of course always open to suggestions, as I love expanding my library.
